Hi Ewerybody.

I am working on the first feature from our company, FantasyFreakFilms.

It is to be a parody of old Kung-Fu movies and it is entitled: Shen-Yo- the tale of fight...
The project is only for fun and we are all really excited about it...

We are using a Pd150 and Final Cut 3 to edit it...Our Budget? It is absolutely minimum...

It is going to be really fun!

I have opened this thread because I would like to hear about some of your experiences with your first feature length films... Stories, info about the film, how it turned out, your next feature...absolutely everything!

Definitely not feature length, but I just finished a kung-fu parody myself.

It's called "The Legend of Wang III: The Sword of Time." It runs 11 minutes. As soon as I find a host for the file, I will post a link.

Are there no one here that makes feature films?

No feature film for me, but working 4 months (part time) on an 8 minutes short movie called "BitterSweet" felt like making a feature film ;-)

It was part of a Gershwin Showcase project at an American Film Festival and won the first price of that project. A good reason to fly over to the USA from Europe and join the festival a couple of months ago. It was filmed with a Panasonic DVX100 (PAL) and edited with Vegas 4. Our budget was around 500 dollar. And no martial arts involved.

Making a feature length movie will take a lot of energy and time. Have you experience with short movies that work out fine on different levels (acting, editing, soundmixing, production, financing, etc.)?

Yes...I have some experience:)
This project is though, as I said, just for the fun of it.
It is going to take the time it takes and all of the actors live in town and we see eachother almost everyday...
It is an experiment showing if it is even possible...

I just watched your short... Very nice.

I like the pacing in the film, but especially the framing is nice... Good performances by the actors too...

Cliched dialogue, badly dubbed...

Yeah, I think we used as many cliches as possible. The entire thing is a cliche.

I don't do features just because of time constraints. It took me a week of solid work to edit, score, and output this project, and shooting took approximately 4 hours. A feature film is a huge amount of work for amateurs.
