Roller Derby! Hits! Women! Lens Flares!

Hey guys,

Video I did recently for the Toronto Roller Derby. Shot on 2 Canon 7D's and a Canon 1D mk4. Steadicam was a Pilot and we used all Canon glass.

Original music and lots of fun post production. This is being used as promo material for the leagues upcoming season.

Cheers.

That looked like it might have been a lot of fun to produce.

I wonder what happened to all those banked roller derby tracks? Roller derby used to be quite popular, its interesting that it appears to be making a bit of a comeback.

Great job.

I asked about that, since I know NOTHING about derby. They say they still exist, but are quite expensive and more dangerous, so they have fallen out of favour.

It was a blast to make. Great ladies.

Banked tracks are still around, but flat track is a LOT easier to source as it can be laid out in a warehouse, an actual skating rink, etc. The Women's Flat Track Derby Assoc., is a nicely organized group of volunteer leagues. So there isn't a lot of money in what these ladies are doing, they're doing it for the love of the sport.

I am working with our local league providing video for the coaches to study, as well as doing promo and other stuff. Been a blast getting involved. If you have a local league near you, get out there and check it out. Nearly ALL of them could use basic video services. Don't expect to get paid, no one does. I do it anyway. :)

Brilliant

Excellent colour and nice fast motion filmed at 60fps?

I really gotta get me a 7D as a second camera. Sheesh those pans are smooth as.

With regards

Jeff
