Short shot with 7d! Please critique!
 

don't mean to discourage, but acting and script was rather poor. Perhaps you could think of a more engaging plot for your next short.

Just want to mention that I did this in three days and my cast were amateur actors. It was for a school competition.

I agree with Ali Jafri but I felt the technical aspects were quite good.

I agree with everyone above. The acting could use improvement, but for beginners, it was very good...

The shots were nice. Good camera work. Good coloring. Somewhat interesting plot, but a lot of holes in it. But I liked the color and lighting.

Keep going! There's a lot of talent in there.

When your starting out getting good actors can be really difficult, not that those actors where bad. It was all just a bit stiff.

You could still re-edit this and tighten it up a lot which would help move it a long better.

I think you did a lot of things right, I don't know how many shorts you have produced but keep doing them and you'll get better.

Its been my experience that young actors really pick up on how a set is managed, if you keep it light and fun that generally comes across. So I'm guessing that you guys were concerned more with the camera and lighting than making sure the actors where engaged and having fun. Just a guess on my part.

I agree, do another. Hopefully next time you won't have to begin with 20s of black screen... :)

Rafael, I think you did a great job. I actually thoroughly enjoyed the film.

Your shot selection was diverse, yet was still aesthetically pleasing, not bordering on experimental. The shots all had a feeling of movement and worked well as a whole, the editing also worked well to further push the movement of the shots.

In regard to the acting, I think you and your actors did very well in bringing the characters to life. I was drawn into the film and felt that I was right there with the characters as they were having their experiences. I was very happy to see that you dealt with the dramatic moments in such a subdued manner, as most times we see overacting rather than small amounts of underacting.

In regard to the plot, I can honestly say, I was not expecting any of the twists or turns. It was definitely not predictable. It was great how you managed to hide the true intention of the wife until the last second.

All in all, I think you did a great job and would be interested in seeing more of your work.
