My first short film: Lost Soul

This was shot last year with a fantastic crew.
The shooting took place for 3 gruesome nights...actually four but we had to re-shoot one night because the mini dv tape was blanc!
It was erased by the weights of the glidecam (magnetic)!!! Oh the horror;)
But it was a great experience and the next short is in the making !
Any questions? Just shoot.
Enjoy and let me know what you think!!

I just love this stuff. People react good, bad, excited, bored, ... everybody has his/her own opinion.

What do people on this forum think about it?

Re: My first short film: Lost Soul

It was atmospheric. Some cool use of light, smoke and shadows.

I like the shot panning to the window then cut to an extreme close-up of the hand. I love film noir too so I'm a sucker for silhouettes and shadows. The audio got my attention, sounded like parts of an EM composition I did in school.

Re: My first short film: Lost Soul

Thank you for the feedback, Hendrik!
The atmosphere Is thanks to Marie Olaerts.
She's a pro and without her I couldn't have done this.
She knew what I wanted, because I wanted to let the viewer think for themselfs.
The story is for the audience to tell...

And jerry, thanks. This shot took for more then two hours, but I love it.
It was shot with a crane, and the hand afterwards... my choice of extra contrast.
The sound/music was done after the shooting.
Did it with a great friend and musical genius( really talented!) Joeri Wijnants.
Made it together in about 7 nights.

Any other feedback/questions, just shoot

Re: My first short film: Lost Soul

Excellent work in just three nights. Loved the atmosphere, sound and music – for some reason it reminded me of Blade Runner.

Forget shorts, go make a movie! Thanks for sharing.

Re: My first short film: Lost Soul

Hahaha, thank you very much for the compliments.
Love Blade runner;)
I'm working on my next short, and I'm still learning about moviemaking everyday.
I think it's to early for my first feature movie and let's not forget the role that money plays.
Moviemaking is the most expensive hobby in the world;)
But maybe after the next short... time will tell...
