Love in Motion - Changing Haiti One Child At A Time

Hey guys! Would love your thoughts on this piece on child sponsorship in Haiti that I shot and edited!

For some background, I was sent down on a 10 day trip with a medical team, and also shot food distribution and medical clinics. I shot 5diii, thanks to LensProToGo (who are amazing).

Because of the speed and time restrictions I couldn't really bring a grip truck, so everything is natural light. The interview audio is Sennheiser g3 into an h4n, the ambient is all Rode VMP. Paul's interview is a Rokinon 85 1.4, Julie's is a 35L (would've gone 85, but too cramped in the space unfortunately) B-roll is a mixture of 24-105L, 70-200L, and 35L. All shot flat in camera, edited and graded in Premiere cs6.

Happy to provide any other info people might find interesting :)

Thanks,
Evan

Nice stuff there. I was in Haiti with the Army from December 95 to March 96. I put together a video that showed the beginning of the UN mission there. I didn't shoot all the footage but I edited it, get this, Umatic to Umatic decks. Here is a copy of it on YT Haiti UN 1996 - YouTube The audio isn't the original soundtrack. I had to add it from the YT collection. All the footage is either VHS or Hi-8.

Nicely done. Someday this impoverished nation, which adopted profound principles of self-government shortly after our American Revolution and has never been forgiven by those who frowned on our success then, will receive the kind of help it deserves and desperately needs to emerge from the imposed darkness. Hope in the darkest places, like the recently circulating previews of the Landfill-harmonic Orchestra film in South America, remind all of us of our universal humanity.

I was privileged to know photographer Walter Rosenblum, who lived and photographed in Haiti, on sabbatical, decades ago. It is a crime that so much has not changed, more so that the toll from the hurricane has not been addressed.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks guys! Love the thoughts :)

Always interested in other thoughts/feedback, surprised how little there is for the number of thread hits!
