Property Video

Here's a home I shot with a 5D3 and NEX5n.

Wow, love it.

The images are so incredibly sharp. Makes me a bit sad that my HM600 just can't pull of images like that.

Re: Property Video

I shoot a lot of video with the 7D and when I started shooting with the 5D3 I thought it looked soft, but the video from the 5D3 can be sharpened much better than the video from the 7D.

I just finished another project and added even more sharpening and it looks great. I'm a little old school, I still try to shoot everything with as low an ISO as possible and I don't like sharpening video, but recently a friend of mine told me to get over it, he told me try shooting with auto ISO, so the next day I was shooting in bright sunlight into shadow [high contrast] and decided to give it a try. I was shooting full manual shutter 1/60, ISO 125 with f/.18-22 and it looked pretty good, I tried the same settings with auto ISO and the footage looked amazing. The thing I don't understand is that when reviewing the footage I noticed the ISO was at 6000. That has to be a mistake, but what ever it is the footage looks great.

I'm going to have to keep testing but this camera is changing what I thought were the rules...

I'm glad you like it.

The visuals are amazing, some of the best I've seen. How did you do the motion?

Re: Property Video

Yes, the motion is very smooth, did you use a jib? I did notice quite bad aliasing on several interior shots which appear to be photo's where the movement was done in post?

Re: Property Video

Yes, a lot interior shots look like they were stills with motion ala Ken Burns. Nice way to present what looks like a gorgeous property.

Must have used a drone for some of those shots. Not sure how else you would get the elevation plus motion. I'm currently shooting what the newspapers are calling "the mother of all mansions". Would love to use that technique.

I've done dolly crane shots . Very cool but takes a lot to set up.

Well I'm heading over this morning with a crane, don't have a drone. Love that treetop shot and the think the crane will do it. Insane project.

Re: Property Video

Good luck with your shoot.

it would be illegal for me to have shot this with a drone... These are ALL" jib" shots.

About 1/3 of this was done using the Ken Burns effect on stills. The surprising thing is that the sharper the video the more it looks like stills, which is why you need something moving in the shot. I really like adding animals and people to my videos but realtors don't like to spend the screen time on something they think is non essential to selling the house.

I strongly disagree but I'm tired of arguing with them, they pay for it and if they want it to look like I used stills that's the way they get it. Here's another property video with the same style but I added people and animals.

I like the people in it. I may break down and get a drone, my jib was no match for a 4 story mansion. Is that a drone shot at 1:31 Chuck? (I won't tell anyone).

Re: Property Video

Actually, the second video was never used and was not a commercial transaction so that drone shot was not against the law. That shot was done with my first multi that was very basic:
