A week in Korea

A much needed vacation in Korea. All shot handheld with 5d3.
First personal video I've done in a while. Let me know what ya think :)

I liked the overall feel of your video and the handholding was pretty good. The starting shot from the plane was a perfect intro. It may be the geologist in me, but I really loved the shots of the columnar basalt.

There were one or two shots in the middle where the wind noise was a bit loud, but it is a great summary of your holiday.

Loved the video, just hoped it was sharper. I was expecting real sharp footage from the 5D3.

James - The 5diii is naturally really soft actually haha.

looks cool man! A little high-contrast for me, but the shots looked nice!

I haven't been to Korea in about 20 years, sure looks different. Nice shots, I hope you enjoyed your vacation.

James and Evan, Canon changed to a new sensor in the 5D3, from the 5dMkII, that is exactly devisable by 16x9 for HD video. This means that you can sharpen the video much better than you could with the old sensor. You can increase the sharpening in the camera or better yet sharpen in post. This is similar to shooting stills with tweaked setting for JPEGs or shooting RAW. Although the video is not RAW, because of the new sensor and codec you can do much more to the video in post.

Or now thanks to Magic Lantern the 5D3 can shoot RAW video (DNG's).

But just about no matter how you look at it the 5D3 can shoot much better video than the 5dMkII or 7D.

Right. The footage sharpens up great, but naturally it's really stinking soft, especially compared to the c series cameras.

Thanks for the kind comments. Korea's a beautiful place.

Also, let's try not to turn this into a gear thread, shall we? But yeah, 5d3's soft sooc
