Super16 / DVX100 Video - ET Bike Chase Parody!

Hey guys, this here is a video i did back in April for a very talented rock band called Forever Changed...

check it out: http://www.floodgaterecords.com/encounter

The performance shots were done on Super 16mm while the chase scene was done on the DVX100. Let me know what you think.

Also, check out the band at www.foreverchanged.net.

That was very well done! Now, how did you shoot the head on shot of the bikes taking off over the van as far as the scale is concerned and then the profile flying shot? Was that on a stage? Do you have any production stills that you could post?

Cody Jordan October 2nd, 2005 12:29 PM

yea we just shot the guys one bikes in front of a green screen at a film school. I have yet to complete the making of but I may be able to find some stills to post. check back soon.

Wow

That was VERY good. Makes me want to buy the album.

What did you use to edit this?

Was the rack focus between the two singers near the end done in-cam or in post?

Best,
Jeff

hey thanks man.. you really should buy the album. It's definately money well spent!

As for editing, i used Final Cut pro HD... I edited 2-3 staight weeks at a friends house who had a mac... editing was pretty crazy! But its my favorite part.

The rack focus was done on camera... My DP was, Johnny Toxic, this amazing guy from Fullsail which was a high-end film college out of orlando. We shot the performance on their Arriflex Super16 camera... and it came with all sorts of expensive gadgets. We were blessed man i tell you!

Well done indeed the cutting back and forth and the composition... Lets not talk about the effects nice... Where are you located?

the video was shot in south florida near orlando... I'm living in the FL panhandle right now

That ending flying scene was so old school music-video-corny that I laughed, it went well with the music beat and the DVX footage matched really well too. Green screen was really good and I was glad to see the kids made it over the van versus going through it, well done! =)

By any chance did you use the anamorphic adapter or was it straight DVX?

Cody Jordan October 6th, 2005 11:16 PM

hey buddy, yea thanks the cheese factor was definatley intended! We didn't use an anamorphic adapter... however we had to letterbox it in post to match the performance shots which was shot in 16:9 but with the expensive arri camera of course.

Nice job! Very nice look and colors. Good editing, good shot composition, too. Keep it up!

I don't know if it's possible to do a focus rack in post. It would definitely be more time-consuming than simply turning the focus ring.
