/DRIVE Clean: Freedom One (Sony A7S)
 

Here's a 27-minute feature I shot with the Sony A7S. It was filmed over three days in Nevada (earlier this month) and was released this morning. The sunlight was challenging to deal with as it was constantly changing, and usually pretty harsh and we were constantly changing between shadows and full sun. The A7S's excellent dynamic range was really helpful in post. I would have liked more time to tweak color, but we were on a tight deadline and it had to get pushed out. That said, the client was stoked with the results.

For this shoot the camera was rigged with an Odyssey 7Q+, and both camera and monitor ran off a single Sony L battery. however, I saw after day 1 that I didn't have enough batteries (I would need 2X as many) to run this way so I switched out to my smallHD DP4. It was wearing the Movcam A7S cage and Jag35 rails. Most disappointing part of the shoot: I forgot my shoulder pad for the rig and had to run-and-gun with rails digging into my shoulder. Those bruises lasted several days.
