Brother that was the shakiest quakiest not necessarily anything going any particular place type of video that I've watched on this site. Yet somehow I found it interesting. I thought my fillings were gonna fall out from the jitters, but somehow I liked it. The mood of the music definitely fit the mood of the dude. And the direction. I watched it till the end..

If I were the client, I would probably say... The product shots are letter-boxed to death in an effort to be hip. Increase the size of the product compared to the motion backdrop. And since the spot lacks a voiceover, put a bug in the lower right letter-boxed background area so the public knows who we are.
Then fix the ending, and make the spot :30 seconds.

Well, preface to say my work computer doesn't have speakers (long story) but I liked it. The angles were nice. The interviews (in silent mode) looked good. I think you told the story well, concentrating on the meals received at the center and then delivery.

I like it. Good Job. I would have done a different background than black on the credits though. But that's just me, maybe use their logo or something.

King of Ballarat - Black Hill
 

Short (3min approx) video of the recent King Of Ballarat downhill race in Ballarat. My first time filming downhill racing but it was a great weekend. Thanks to James Patterson for doing the majority of the editing.

The first music video (Ordinary Dreams) played on Canada's, BRAVO Network, and the last segment, (Someone Came Knocking) Was nominated for best Student Cinematography by the Canadian Society of Cinematographers (CSC).

Good note on the credits, thanks. I had never really thought of doing anything but a black background for credits. I know lots of TV shows squeeze up the show and run the credits on a black lower 1/4 of the screen. But I just thought they were trying to squeeze in more show. But why not make the credits a useful part of the program.

I just read this, for some reason didn't get notified of the post when you made it (strange).

I definitely agree about the lighting, the whole thing looks a bit more soft then i was originally hoping for. I'm still very much trying to learn lighting and audio. Lighting I'm starting to get a grasp on and hopefully that will show in my film thats shooting tomorrow (for DV challenge). Audio...well, i'm trying to find audio guys, lets just say that. ;-)

I definitely think the ending could have been great if it had ended with a comedic twist after being a dark buildup. Too bad the writer didnt think that way. I like that idea though.

Over all, pretty good job. One note I have is that all in all, the short is about the internal thoughts that the main character is having. I thought the sequence of setting up the tripod and camera felt long. Maybe it could've been broken up with some close-ups of either the tripod being set up, something else entirely, flashback to him watching the tape that "They" made, or a close-up of your main character while he's thinking.

One other thing, on the closet scene. I liked the door opening up and the hand reaching in for the camera. I feel like the light should've been placed outside the closet, though. You've got the door opening up, shot from outside, but when the door closes, it's still light in the closet. I know the light could've been left on in the closet, I just think it might have added something if the closet would've went black when the door was shut.

That aside, I still think that you did quite well. And there's a good chance that you will smoke me in the DV Challenge, so keep up the good work.

I have been shooting short films and videos professionally (freelance) for about 3 years. Trying to get into actual feature film work, but it's tough. Thanks for the compliment.
