a music video/XDCAM
 

We shot a music video in white screen studio. Operator was pretty much the best in our country. We used XDCAM for filming, one kino flo and some stage lights. Budget was $6000. It will be on MTV since 27th of Nov. It was directed and edited by me.

Enjoyed it, great editing, overall, I'd add contrast, clip gives away a video/real look in low contrast shots, esp. all white background with chair, Problem is there is no pure shite color in video at all, it's kind of dirty white, which I dislike being a photographer and shooting model on white background, after a while they step on it and it shows dirt, add white in highlights...Good job!

thanks, im quite sure might be some more color problems. I was editing only on LCD monitor, which wasn't probably properly set up...

I enjoyed that a lot. Great timing, lovely movement. Nice one. Oh, what I'd do for a $6000 budget for a music video!

What camera and editing s/w did you use? And who is the band? Are they signed?

There's a saying in the music video business...

The only difference between a video with a $500 budget and a video with a $10,000 budget is that on the $10k one, the crew gets paid.

Nobody works for free on a $6000 video, leaving approximately $4.52 for all the cool stuff that needs to go in front of the lens!

Ha! Truer words were never spoke. Still, $6k?

On my first video (Spaceship, a few posts below) we had about a £25 budget. We blew that on beer. If I told you that the 'mysterious' red objects are a football, an old box, a waste paper basket and a cat scratching pyramid, all sprayed with some red paint I found in the garage, you'd understand why the model maker, to whom the £25 had been promised, was less than impressed.

Ian, we used Sony XDCAM(not that HD one) with wide angle lens. I edited in Premiere Pro 2. We added some grain and hide some wires/ropes on the walls with some other program.

Im not sure what "signed" means, if you would explain i would answer your question.

Nate, thats true, pretty much nobody worked for free on this project. I got for editing and directing $400, cameraman got $640, make up artist $240.

We had quite a lot other expences.

Thanks for the info. By "signed" I mean do they have a record contract or are they an independent band?

yes, they are signed. They have released two albums and they are quite big over here. But the target public is 12-13years old girls...
