For Glory & Honour: Take 2

For Glory & Honour: Take 2

I would like to see if anyone is interested in entering a short film for the next challenge. I'm willing to create a web site for this challenge in order to supply links for all of the entries.

This forum will still remain our main base of operations.

I would also like to change the time-frame to allow 2 to 3 weeks of filming/editing time from the date of the theme announcement.

We need a MINIMUM of 10 entries. Please post in this thread if you are interested. Once we receive at least 10 applicants we'll announce a theme and a deadline. This is for film-makers of all ranges, from beginners... to experts.

The goal: Practice and fun!

I've contacted Chris to see if he's alright with this.

If you are interested... please sign up!

EDIT: Film time limit = 4 minutes or less, excluding closing credits. Keep them simple though.
The Theme/Genre will be announced on February 16th 2007. The deadline for entries will be March 2nd.
Please limit the file size to 75 MB or less.

All of the footage for this contest must be new/original footage. You must also have the rights to any music that you use.

Thanks,

Mike

Always good for one of these, sign me up...

Great! I've added this page to my site...
Honour & Glory Film Challenge

Once we get going I'll upload the films to my site for viewing/download purposes. That way we only have to go to one place in order to find all of the entries.

I might be interested, but where can I find more info before I commit to anything?

Mike Horrigan February 7th, 2007 02:16 PM

Hi Nick, I'm going to have the theme announced on February 16th. I'm also working on ideas to make this different from other challenges. Instead of a one word theme I may use a specific film genre. Stay tuned!

I'm also going to allow 2 full weeks to complete the entry. The deadline for entries will be March 2nd 2007.

The film entry will have a 4 minute time limit. This limit will include any intros but will not include closing credits as part of the time limit. Just keep the credits simple though.

I would also like to keep the download size to 75MB or less.

I might sign up... I am not sure yet. I would like to know what your plans are before I commit to it. When I say that, I mean are you going to make it a "one word theme", or a Genre? And also, whats the deal on upload? I would upload mine to youtube, or do you have something else in mind?

Let me know when you decide.

The theme is going to be a surprise, I don't even know what it is yet. :)
I may let Chis Hurd decide it for us if he agrees to. That way I can also contribute a film without previous knowledge of the theme.

Besides, deciding after you hear the theme isn't really much of a challenge. It should really just come down to... do you have time to make a movie during this time slot? If so... sign up! :)

As for the download... you can send me a link to your entry and I will upload it to my site. That way everyone can download every entry from the same location. The quality will also be a little better than You-tube if you send me a direct link. (.mov .wmv .mpeg)

This site will allow you to upload your film for free if you don't have any other options.

You can send me a link to your film after you've uploaded it and I will upload it to my site.

As long as I can upload the clips to my site everything should go smoothly.

Thanks for doing this Mike....Count me in....

One thing though...I don't mind the surprise theme, but an unknown genre is different.

I can think of a few genres I'd bail out on immediatly...

Unfortunately, I will not be able to sign up. I will be going out of town at the end of February... maybe next time

Thanks for the info

The "Genre" suggestion does seem to be scaring a few people away. I'll re-think that and get back to you. We'll probably end up with a standard theme and leave the rest up to the film-maker.

Sound good?

Thanks for the "sticky" Chris!

So... who's on board? We need more entries for this one.

Please sign up!

Awesome Mike! It will be a one word theme. I've emailed Chris Hurd asking him if he wouldn't mind providing the theme on Feb 16th. That way I can enter something as well...

It's all about having fun and getting a little practice in.

Thanks,

Mike

That would be great if Chris would do that for us!
