Music Video Shot with XDCAM 350
 

Here is a video I shot last week for a young local band.
The crew was only the director and I.
I shot with an XDCAM 350 and Cannon KH10ex3.6 lens.
Used only available concert lighting.

I was very happy with the camera in the relativley low light. The blacks were black with no noise.

Great video. Loved the look to it. Shots flowed real nicely also, felt like you had 4 or 5 cameras there. Sound matched up real nice, did you use a studio recording from them? They should be pretty happy with that product.

Really nice work,just wondering how you manage to record the whole song uncut and manage to get different cut to cut angles.Did you shoot the song several times.Was there a master shot? Thanks a lot in advance

We had a studio recording of the song. I got a click track added to the head for sync purposes. I recorded 7 takes. Brought them all into Avid. Took about 3 minutes to sync all the takes onto a timeline. Layed up the master audio and started cutting.

They are happy with it for sure. It was shot at the end of a gig they played. Got the crowd to stay for 3 takes, then shot 4 more takes without the crowd.

I used an 8 foot Kessler crane for 2 of the takes, the rest were handheld.

I tweaked the camera for about 20 minutes to get it to look the way I wanted.

24P, 60i ????

Shot @ 23.98p and downconverted to SD with pulldown. Injested into a 30i Avid Project.

Impressive, actually, certainly for the level most here operate on. Very very good. Pretty much there are only two complaints. One is the whip-zooms you put in, like, twice. They were just a little out of place, maybe if you'd put them on a heavy accent in the song it would've worked, but it just didn't QUITE fit in, and sort of made me do a double take when they happened.

The second was your shooting style. You shot it sort of 1/2 "Live Performance" and 1/2 "Music Video". Betwixt the two have trouble meeting.

Overall, just very very good, good work with the available lighting, and most of the camera work was really interesting and fresh, cutting between them, it was well paced, it just had some ADD on its specific format and those whip zooms...

Really that's the only complaints I can think of.
