FZ2500 4k Cropping.

Hi all. I've seen a lot of threads and articles about the 4k cropping in the FZ2500. Going from 24mm to 36mm. It's viewed as a negative, especially by people doing close in work. From a 'glass is half full' perspective, though, I find it's a real plus as my full zoom work in 4k now gives me the equivalent of a 30x optical zoom... 36mm to 720mm. Very important to have a half decent tripod though.. which I now have, fortunately, and I must say it has lifted the FZ2500 to a different level.

Re: FZ2500 4k Cropping.

Hi Bill,

We shoot all our weddings now on the FZ1000 in 4k, so pretty much the same. I use a lot of cropping in post, as it gives so much more flexibility. I am working on a wedding at the moment shot with 3xFZ1000s and a Yi4k during the ceremony, all of which I am editing with crops, zooms and pans to give real movement and interest to all camera angles, whilst still leaving HD quality for delivery to the client.

Hi Roger. Yes, 4k is useful to zoom in on in post if necessary. But what I'm referring to is the crop factor when you switch from HD to UHD. It goes from 24mm to 36mm. Not that good for close in work but great for distant work as the 20x optical zoom starts at 36mm and goes out to 720mm.

Yes - but you've still got FHD 24mm. Love this camera - 10 bit 4:2:2 out, DCI, choose full or studio RGB, NDs, affordable and looks pro with the big hood. Best all-round camera ever?

In order to record video in 10 bit, do I need a recorder like the ninja five? Or can I just run it into an external SSD?

Yes, recorder or a 10 bit capable capture card and system. No, it's not just a transfer.
