Here's how DV Info Net got the ball rolling
 

This blog entry by David Newman in which he cites our A.I.M. forum as the catalyst for Silicon Imaging's new camera reminds me of how we did the same thing for RED. In fact you can say that both RED One and the SI-1920HDVR both have their roots here at DV Info Net (the RED seed was first planted with one thread from quite awhile back). Kudos to David Newman for giving credit where it's due... to all our Alternative Imaging Methods regulars! Here's the link:

I too want to acknowledge the contribution!

The DVInfo boards were definitely a MAJOR catalyst for the development of the SICam. It provided us a resource of information for creative "out of the box" thinking and motivation to leverage our imaging technology into the HD/D-Cinema market. The community also brought the Cineform and Silicon Imaging technology officers (Steve Nordhauser and David Newman) together. This sparked a relationship that led to an innovative product which "represent significant technical breakthrough" and which will likely go on to "significantly impact the future of video technology" according to TV Technology Editors.

We look forward to a continued presence on the DVInfo boards and anticipate many new innovations growing from our roots!

I sure did have fun over at the alternative imaging forum. It was good to meet
the SI team @ NAB this year. Great work guys!
