Shooting B&W with the Silicon?
 

Is any optimisation possible to record the best possible monochrome image?

I'll freely admit I don't fully grasp the implications of all I've read about B&W Vs color imaging other than that ideally there's more to it than just loosing the chroma information.
Despite my lack of understanding I thought given the resurgence of B&W it's a question worth throwing into the mix.

There are several siginificant benefits for using the Silicon B&W over shooting any of the Y:U:V formats including:

Higher spatial resolution (1000TVL+)
Higher sensitivity
Higher quality coding

We expect to see some productions done in mono, including 3D Anaglyphs.

The reference to Y:U:V had mostly to do with the coding formats comapred to HDCAM or DVCPRO-HD (I didnt mention the 4x luma accuracy of our 10bit format vs 8-bit). If you compare to SR the differences are more subtle.

In Monochrome, every pixel can be either black or white, or a unique line. If you look at square resolution, there are 1080 lines.
