It looks very nice, although it is only HD-SDI based . . . i.e., there's no 2K modes . . .

Jason, and you missed it is only 9 f-stops (that is using "12 in high gain mode", whatever that means.)

Where is the RAW in that ;-) !

They say that RAW will be soon:

"The MODULA HD CAM is capable of providing RAW data. The RAW data output is not implemented yet, but we are planing to provide 12 (!) bit raw data over HDSDI link and to store it in open exr (http://www.openexr.com/) file format
We are shipping the MODULA HD CAM already."

Cool . . . is there a standard way to record HD-SDI "RAW" into OpenEXR? If they're doing 12-bit RAW over an HD-SDI link, then that's going to be a bit proprietary, won't it? Will you get 2K RAW as well, or will it only be 1920x1080 still?

Still looks like an interesting little camera, although I'm not sure if it's worth $24K U.S. dollars (18.5K Euro).

At 24,000 dollars the German MICROHDTV SEEMS A BIT OVER THE TOP. Take a look at the PANOPTEC P-300 "shoofti" which records continuous video at 1920 X 1080p at 30 IPS to a built-in SD card, and can do 60 at lower resolution. It has a built-in LCD screen and measures only about 100 X 52 X 24 mm and comes with a host of accessories in a fitted instrument case for 420 pounds sterling. After trying other options, my opinion is that Cineform is key.

And Cineform RAW is godsend :)

Seriously, Cineform RAW is 2x smaller (!) file size that regular Cineform Filmscan.

Unbeatable workflow (at least on Wintel platform.)

Cineform was one of the major factors that swayed me towards SI-2K. And SI-2K's interface is also great, btw.

When you need to produce results, all this matters. (and yes, I appreciate DIY when it makes sense ;)
