Is an Avid Workflow Possible?

Most of the post industry in New Zealand is built around Avid systems. Both FCP and Premiere Pro are very much in the minority.

Is there a workflow for Avid work?

There is an Avid "workflow", but it basically involves rendering the CineForm RAW files to a native AVID codec like DNxHD, or ingesting the Quicktime CineForm RAW files, but again, transcoding them on import to DNxHD.

Avid refuses to work with third-party codecs, so unless they actually decide to internally support CineForm RAW, there's not a whole lot we can do. We have tried talking to them, but apparently this is an overall company policy that no third-party codecs are supported within the application.

Does this rendering to DNxHD take place in Premiere? or is it just not an option?
Look forward to hearing more about the FCP workflow once it's locked off.

I would probably use After Effects for rendering to DNxHD, especially if you have a bunch of files that need converting. It has a nice render-que unlike Premiere.

I think that waiting for Avid to become more open like Adobe would be just waisting time, Avid is the best tool for offline, but with Cineform and PPro users are online all time, why should i work with proxies
SI and Cineform, you are doing great job.
