Lens Hood for X70

Has anybody come across a replacement lens hood for the X70 that has a built in shutter/cover - I really miss the hoods from my old NX70's - I wonder if any hoods from other Sony cameras would fit & have the correct mounting grooves?????

This would be such a nice feature. Would be a great aftermarket product eh?

I was literally searching for an aftermarket hood today. I would love to have one similar to what they have on the Canon XA20.

Re: Lens Hood for X70

I find it ironic that the X70 uses the same lens hood as the AX100...

Why? Because the hood has the aspect ratio for "photographs" on the AX100. (Because the AX100 shoots photos) But the X70 had it's photo ability removed and "should" only have a 16x9 aspect ratio hood for video.

However, Sony decided use the AX100 hood on the X70 anyway. An NXCAM NX70 style hood would have been ideal.

That's like the broadcast B4 lenses from Canon and Fujinon. Fujinon sticks with 4:3 lens hoods, Canon 16:9.

It would be great to have a built in lens shutter - I'm really surprised that Sony went Forward to the Past with this feature.

I'd happily pay for a solution.

Count me in. I would happily pay for a solution. I had that feature on my Z1.

If you use a lens hood then you don't need a lens cap. I find most lens caps now for DSLR's causes more damage than not having one.

I have a UV Filter attached permanently on my X70s lens. So I do not use the lens cap during days of much filming.

To be fair, I do the same - the lens caps are never used & i rely solely on UV filters for protection. And now I come to think about it, I used to get really annoyed with the NX70 flip up lens shutters in the rain, as the 'flipping up' would catapult water droplets onto the lens - very annoying!

I use a B+W clear filter also permanently attached.

You could always try one of the 'Hoocap' range that has a built in lens cap in the hood. I think you would need a 62mm to whatever step-up ring.

I have a B+W UV clear filter as well which is attached 100% of the time. It not only protects the lens, it also helps keep the dust and elemrents from entering your permanent lens as well. If I come across a lens hood such as the one you're looking for, I'll let you know. Ray
