Re: PXW-X70 Takes to The Air

Good Morning John,

The new design is an incredible improvement on a great product, rock steady. I use the 4x4 on my 1DX/D810 still bodies, and the 6x6 on the X-70. My FS/7 is stretching the suggested weight envelope of the 4x4 so I'm ordering an 8x8 for that. The gyros come with a D ring collar that accepts bungee cords, but typical I hand hold the units.

I'm a Kenyon distributor if anyone needs anything they make.

Most welcome John. If you haven't done it already, go to the Kenyon site and look at that demo video shot from the back of a pickup on a country road. The difference is remarkable and I can confirm that the product does all that and more. The stuff is beautifully precision crafted and Kenyon stands behind their product with excellent customer service.

Even though these aircraft were/are amazing, perhaps the most amazing part of their history is the amazing young men who flew them, and some of those boys were really young. They were the greatest generation.

Thanks for sharing the videos.

Right you are, 20 year old kids with a couple hundred hours of flight time. I feel them all every time I climb in a B25 for a photo mission.

Re: PXW-X70 Takes to The Air

I alternated the PXW-X70 and my FS/7 on several assignments this fall. From a still photographer's perspective, the X70 is like shooting a good 35mm body/lens, and the FS/7 is like moving to medium format, maybe even 4x5 if you are shooting 4K RAW.

They are all just tools and it's up to the artist to grab the right one for each situation. I had the FS/7 by my side for this shoot with The F/22 Demo Team, but the X-70 was the more nimble tool for tracking this fast routine........

But, the FS/7 really did a good job on this clip.....................

Had an air to air mission with two of the last four Beech Starships in existence. Due to frigid temps and a small shooting platform, I chose the X70 over my FS/7

Amazing to be able to get two for aerial shots.

To bad the starship never caught on. Weird how Beech tried to reclaim them all. One flew through here a couple of years ago. Really odd sound.

Footage looks good considering the lighting. No need to worry about the highlights blowing out!

Hi John,

The clips would have been incredible had we gotten a break from the skies. Frustrating because the layer was only 3-400' thick and a couple thousand feet above us. Problem was, in a non-turbocharged Beechcraft photo platform with the baggage doors removed, that 2-3,000' would have dropped our level cruise below what the Starships needed to fly in a clean configuration......drat!
