Pdw700 720/60p?

So is the the PDW700 going to have the option of 720P 50 and 60fps? In the preliminary brochure it says 1080i, 720P and SD. What I hope is it'll do 1080/25P and 720/50P, then I'll be happy.
Make me happy!

It will do 720p/50/60, and yes it will do 25p.

25P in 1080 or 720?

25p 1080. Should also do it in 720 too. The pre-production camera I tried had 25p on it, but had a very early buggy firmware that messed up when I turned the shutter on.

But the option for 25p is there in the menus and will work properly on the production version.

Thanks Simon. So - we're going to have a camera with 3 x 2/3" 2.2 million pixel CCDs, full raster 1920 x 1080, recording 50 mb/secs 1080/25P and 720/50P. No rolling shutter. Recording to disc and optionally SxS (too much to hope you can do it to both at once?)
If so, this is looking pretty damned good! Seems to me being able to do full raster 1080/25P when you don't need overcranking, and 720/50P when you do would cover all the bases. Any other camra that does this? Not that I know of (within reason!).

Just one thing though, there is no variable framerate. So if you wanted slow motion you would have to record 50/60p 720 and then do a frame for frame conversion to a 25p timeline.

That said, I think there will be a sister model to this camera with variable framerate. I think it would be silly to bet against it.

Don't need variable frame rate, as long as you can do 25, 30, 50 and 60 who needs 42 and 17 and 29 etc.? Not me. Just want slomo for birds etc. 1080/25P for its hi-res and for sync. It's always been the same with Varicam, apart from the during record ramping I've always been happy to use the HPX2100, as when you want to overcrank you want to have as much fps as poss.
