XDCAM F350 Low noise setting 1&2 footage

Sony XDCAM F350 footage at low noise setting 1 & 2 shot in London Soho's district notorious for being the red light area of London. It is a vibrant area that has many sights and sounds of modern culture with Bars, restaurants and jazz clubs. Sit back and enjoy this essential area of London.

Mark, were you using any gain? If so how much?

Paul Gale June 25th, 2008 01:19 AM

Good shots there Mark. I know the area well ;)

What colour settings did you use in camera and what type of grading post?

Cheers,

Paul.

Mark Dawson June 25th, 2008 02:56 PM

Hi Rick...The gain settings was +6db and low noise 1 and +9db and low noise setting 2 hope this helps

Mark

Hi Paul Thanks for your comments cine gamma 2 setting with the low noise option 1 at +6db and low noise option 2 at +9db...post grading very little except for some vingettes I left the exposure as captured rather than to lift in post...I think it makes it more real and true...

Rick L. Allen June 25th, 2008 05:32 PM

Mark, Amazing! Thanks for taking the time to post the footage and tell us about your settings.

is there a definition for "low noise footage"?

Beneath the great looking shots there is still enough contrast in most of the scenes (lights + darkness) , making the work with xdcam hd not too difficult.

I faced most difficult situations in lowlight, low contrast scenes, where you can easily face noise problems at 6 or 9 dB.

Thanks Mark,

Out of interest, what edit software do you use to create the vignettes?

Mark Dawson June 26th, 2008 05:13 PM

Magic bullet looks as everyone seems to these days! Right Phil?

Paul Gale June 27th, 2008 01:10 AM

Thanks Mark, I never got Magic Bullet to work on my system with MXF footage (Matrox Axio system) :(
