What Sony F350 lens are you using
What Sony F350 lens have users settled on. I know this is an old camera but I'm in the market for a new lens and have read all the post's in this forum and was wondering what you all use.
I currently have an SD Fujinon lens on: S20x6.4BERM (it's a cheepie) and use this for both SD & HD shooting but I'm finding this a bit soft. Cheers |
I used to have the Canon KH20x6.4 HD lens. It was OK, but wouldn't be on the top of my list if I was getting a 1/2" HD lens.

We had the Canon HJ17ex7.7b and we're very happy with it. It is now on PDW 700 camcorders. We used the LO-32BMT 1/2" to 2/3" adapter. You might want to consider looking at 2/3 lenses in case you migrate to a PDW 700 or F800.

I used the Fujinon XS17x5.5 BRM-M38 and as far as lenses go it was pretty good, can’t say I had any issues with it at either end of the zoom. I was never keen on pouring too much money into ˝” lenses, so the XS17 was for me, a good compromise between something a bit more special and the cheaper lenses on the market. Also the resale on it was very good.

Thanks guys,
I made a decision to stay with my current setup and either upgrade to the 700 or wait until the new Sony 350 is released in Australia. I think the new Sony 350 will be cheaper and more than enough for what I shoot. I have found the Sony F350 very noisy in low light and the black’s exhibit lots of grain with almost a filmic look but I know its noise. I was very surprised to see so much noise in the shots taken at a wedding I shot and this was out side on a dull day with gain set to 0db. Either I have some setting incorrectly set or this camera produces grain at the slightest drop in light. I thought at first it could be the lens. Cheers |
Simon,
Do you have the most current firmware in the 350? I ask because it received via firmware update awhile back, the same noise suppression menu settings that the 355 has. It does help somewhat. -gb- |
The F350 is a little noisy. The noise reduction helps as Greg points out. If you can you should check out the new PMW-350, that has a noise figure of 59db and it has very little noise and is probably over 2.5 stops more sensitive than the F350
