Suitable Tripod for F330

Is the Vinten Vision 10LF a decent enough tripod for the F330?

I have the opportunity to buy one (used) for about the price of a new Vinten Pro-Touch 10.

Opinions?

Probably would work fine, but I have been told that it is best to go with a 100mm half ball tripond (rather than 75mm, I think the Vinten is 75mm?). Of course, I was told that by someone selling me a tripod...

I ended up going with a Miller Arrow HD Carbon Fiber Tripod System (Sprinter 2-Stage Tripod) which is rated for 50lbs load for the F350. Depends on lenses, accessories, usage, portability needs, and a zillion other things. I need all the help I can get from the tripod, so I like a heavy duty unit.

I have an old O'Connor 50 (which I bought new in 1985 for $2900--the equivalen is about $10K today) and a Gitzo 1338 with carbon fiber legs. I got the Gitzo for use with a lightweight DSR250, but there are times I use it with the DSR500. The 75mm ball is a bit of a problem with the heavier camera, although the head itself is fine. So I agree with the above post--go with a 100mm ball.

Yep, go with the 100mm ball.

Any tripod that is designed to hold cameras such as the DSR-500/570 etc will be ideal for the 350 or 330. These new HD XDCAM's may only be 1/2" ccd cameras, but they are similar in weight to the current SD XDCAM's.

I currently use a Miller DS25. I have to say that I often find myself wanting more spring tension/weight adjustment. But I like the legs because the locks for both eht lower leg stages and the upper leg stages are in the same place (so you don't have to bend down as far to adjust the lower ones).

Also don't forget to factor in the cost of a VCT-14 tripod plate that will be needed. Don't get the VCT-14U as this is the cheaper version that uses plastic in it's construction. It is nowhere near as study as the metal VCT-14.

Thanks guys for the info.

I think the Vision 10LF has a 100mm bowl. The head is rated at 29lbs and the CF legs can support 55lbs.

What about the Libec LZ-60 or LZ-70? How do these compare to the Vinten Vision heads?

If the Vinten Vision 10LF falls somewhere between the Vinten Vision 8 or 11 it should work just fine. I had the rep come over and we hooked my Ikegami HL-DV7AW (same weight as sony 570) to the Vision 8 and it worked perfect. If i were going to add a tele-prompter I would go for the Vision 11.
