Lens quality & characteristics?

I'm very interested in this cam. I've played with F350 a bit in an expo, yet i haven't been able to get my hands on the various XDCAM lenses available. Nor i have the experience of brands & types of lenses.

Can someone shed some light here on me? I need to know how much quality difference are there between the Fujinon lenses: the HS, HSs, Xs in terms of sharpness & clarity & CA?
Also do they present same DOF in the same F-stop?
What about the default Canon included in kit, is it really not very sharp? What is the real benefit to buy the much higher priced lenses?

Thanks,
hornady

I am not an expert, but from what I found out, when planning to buy a F330,
and now when I own one, is

“you get what you pay for”

It is all a matter of what you needs is and what you can afford to pay.

I bought a kit with lens because my funds were not enough for a better lens.
When I can afford it, I will buy a better lens.

But the bottom line is.
The lens in the kit holds well up to the productions I am going produce. In fact the lens is quite sharp and to my experience, CA. is not a huge problem.

I made a test movie it can be downloaded from this thread:

Even under this heavy compression, you can see all the details.
Uncompressed it is ten times sharper!

The subject, has also been discussed in this thread:
http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=69597

About the DOF subject, the same f.stop and the same wide angel on the same camera, .gives the same DOF.

The difference between the various types and brands is not to my knowledge.
Maybe some other can give you an answer to that.

thx Brian. I'm downloading your footage...

after reading posts & researching the net, i still can't find info of what is the differences between XS, HS & HSs types?

Does anybody here know how much lp/mm each type has? or the lp/mm difference?

the 'S' must mean 1/2" type. 'H' must mean HD. 'X' could mean XDCAM. But what is the real difference? I have to make decision since the price diff is there, and i dont want to sacrifice quality as well. I need a balanced usability-quality-price lens.

thanks people.
