Copy files off of dr60

Hello,

I was reading that the DR60 only records about 4.5 hours of footage. Instead of buying multiple recorders would it be possible to plug it into my laptop running vista and copy the files into a folder and then put them on an external drive while on site?
Then later (I edit on FCP) import them from the drive to my Mac?
I noticed that some people were having issues with running Vista and plugging in the DR60 so assuming that doesn't give me trouble

thanks!

The dr60 can act as a regular ext drive meaning you can attach it through firewire on a pc and transfer the files and after that delete the media on the dr60 and start recording again. Don't know about vista compatibility as I use it with xp pro
