MRC1k & Kingston Tech 32 GB 266x cards - UPDATE -
 

A few months ago, I purchased 3 Kingston 32GB 266x cards to use in my MRC1K. All of the cards stopped recording after a few minutes and returned an error message indicating they could not keep up with the data stream being written. Spoke to Kingston and they exchanged them for new cards. Those cards had the same issue.

I then had a few lengthy discussions with one of their techs who thought there could hav been a bad batch of cards. He said the controller was not at fault as there was no revision on that. They sent out 3 more cards which arrived yesterday. All three of those record and FORMAT fine. Previous cards would not format and according to Kingston, if formatting is an issue then the cards are not up to par.

Just thought I'd pass along this info/experience.

I've purchased 1 32gb transcend 400x and 2* 32gb scandisk extreme 400x cards.

Not sure I'll use a 266x card though

I have a question regarding this card as I am thinking of upgrading my cards to this one. Do you run the recorder in Retro mode? If so, does the faster card keep up with the footage without having a long write time after a recording? If I run my recorder in Retro mode I get a lag that keeps me from recording to the unit if I hit record quickly until the file is written to the card. Does that make sense?

What's retro mode?

To what card are you reffering, Tyge? Kingston or Transcend?
To Lee: I guess that retro mode that Tyge mentioned, has to do with the fact that MRC1K has the capability to record always 8 sec in a buffer before hit the REC.
