Deleting Files
 

Whats the best way to delete files off my CF? I have just got the unit and I havent formatted my CFs. Just popped them in and hit record.

These are the files I have on the CF card:

Volume in drive G has no label.
Volume Serial Number is 3130-8870

Also while you are here...when I hit record and end the recording I'm hereing the *BEEP* on the CF recordings. Is that normal?

I'm recording to CF and Tape. I havent done anything to my Z1 just plugged in and hit record.

Interesting. I always turn off all sounds as soon as I unbox a new cam, but I'm guessing that as the card starts recording instantly and maybe leaves a buffer at the end, the beep is being picked up by the mic. Unless the beep is output as a signal as well so you'll hear it in your headphones.

In any event, we do shows so I'm always rolling a full minute before anything useful happens and keep rolling until a minute after, usually with bars, so I guess it wouldn't be an issue for us.

I'm recording motorsport so don't really have time for the bars and its not really needed for what I do.

Don't hear it at the start only the end so I'll make sure I remember about it.

Infact it won't be a probablem because I've already hit stop on the recording so this extra footage is only a buffer so wont be used.

Good point. What we do is usually one single shot per tape/card, so bars at the beginning and end make sense (more so for tape than card). Obviously with multiple short shots, bars at head and tail of each shot would be silly.

But you should always keep rolling for a few seconds anyway, especially as there have been reports of the MRC cutting off the last few seconds of each shot under some circumstances as it writes from the buffer.

Will do! I've bought the Sandisk 400x extreme III 32GB CF so that should keep up fine but like you said will keep rolling for a couple of seconds afterwards. Its normally what I do anyways.
