Problems "Sony MRU" Compact Flash recording unit

Hello,

I browsed around and couldn't find anyone with my issue...

We are doing an HDV test before we switch my workflow from SD to HD. We are using the Sony Z1u recording in HDV going out to the "Sony MRU" Compact Flash recording unit.

When the file size reaches its maximum it creates a new file.

the problem I am having is when that new file is created the first two frames are bad and full of digi glitches.

I am using ClipWrap to rewrap them to work in FCP 5.1. at first I thought it was clipwrap causing the problem so I opened it in mpeg stream clip and it displays the same problem BUT! when I export it out of stream clip and bring the new file into FCP it doesnt have the two frames of glitches.

the problem with mpeg stream clip is it takes forever to export all these clips and we shoot 100-200 hrs a week for footage... Clipwrap is 100x faster but I need those frames.

any ideas? or suggestions of another program? or is it the recording unit?

Just follow the instructions in the manual. Use the free included Sony utility to rejoin your clips seamlessly as you transfer to PC (and I assume Mac, but I could be wrong). Endlessly discussed in the MRC forum, above. See the note at the bottom of page 18 of the MRC manual.
