mpeg streamclip and the dr-60 hard drive
I have a DR-60 hard drive recorder with my sony V1U and am trying to convert the files in MPEG streamclip. Any tips with what is the best codec to go into?

I'd also like to know the answer to this - I tried converting it to quicktime "apple FCP uncompressed" but the result is unusable.

OK, after playing around, it seems like the best thing is to demux the m2t file to an m2v file, which is quite fast, since it's not doing a conversion per se.
Also, there's an excellent freeware player called VLC for various platforms, including the Mac, that plays the raw M2t files recorded on the dr60 just great. |
unfortunately
the m2v files seems to need rendering in FCP. i think i may have to just capture the footage as if it were a camera until i can get a definitive answer on this. i've heard it's not a good idea to do any kind of MPEG to MPEG conversion. But i don't see the difference. I'm getting dropped frames supposedly. That might be due to the fact that i'm running on firewire 800. Waiting for the 800 macbook pro card.
