Which one is the best?

Hi guys!

I own an FX1 and I want to buy a smaller sony HD camera (such as the HC1 or HC7) to use as a deck for capturing to my computer. Of course it will be great to have a second, more portable, camera. Will I be able to play and capture my FX1 HD footage on these smaller cameras? I know they can all take the same Sony mini-HDV tapes.

So, which of the small sony HD cameras would you guys say is the best bang for the buck? I don't want to spend more than $1200.00. Preferably less.

I'm leaning towards the HC7 since it has a mic input and there are cheap underwater housing units that I would love to use.

Any input you guys can give is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

HC7 - if you are going to need UW capability (shallow depth of course), that's your best bet. Still have an HC1, and it's a great camera, but the 7 is a sweet small package. You should be able to get under $1200 with a bit of shopping online (if the price is under 1K, be careful... remember "too good to be true...")

You've got the FX1 for the serious stuff, get the HC7 for deck and "fun", you'll be happy.
