HC9 lowlight vs. hv30/20

Ok, I'm sure this has been debated throughly but not haven't been able to track down the thread.

What's the consensus, is the canon series HV20/30 really significantly better in low light? I'll be shooting a lot indoors so it's an important decision maker for me.

Also, curious, anyone know if you can playback sony hdv tapes on the hv20/30 for tape deck / computer interface purposes? It'd be nice to buy a cam that also operates as a tape deck for my Sony FX1.
