The Y has been long discontinued, and is very hard to find sed - you might check B&H's used section.

The current model is the 0737C, and while it's not quite as good a lens, it's easy to find, and is a lot lighter and smaller than the Y. Might be worth a look.

I've got a couple of each model, and an earlier 0737X (might be willing to part with that one, as I don't use it much). Every time I get tempted to sell one or both the Y series, I realize how hard it would be to find a replacement, and it is a really nice chunky piece of glass!

how is the quality of the C? any edge blur? i'm willing to buy it if it's the only one i can find, but not if the quality is terrible.

and what's the outside diameter of that lens? for hood purposes.

would the canon WD-H37C work well? i've heard great things about the lens from HV30 users.

The C is a pretty decent lens, not sure about the Canon. There is just a tad of barrel distortion with the "C", but I wouldn't say there's any blur that I noticed.
