What is an almost new HVRA1U worth?
 

I am being offered one by an estate. From what I understand, it has almost no hours on it. My main camera is a Canon XH-A1 and I do concert shoots with that camera running to a laptop to shoot with Adobe OnLocation.

Is it worth picking up and how much is a fair price?

Best way to tell is to go to the used section at B&H and see if they have any for sale and if they do, how much they're asking, and then subtract a couple hundred, as they tend to ask on the high side. I also always go to eBay and do a search, making sure to show "Completed Listings Only" to get a sense of what the current marketplace thinks anything is worth.

This was a pretty good cam for its time but is probably close to ten years old now so be careful. Technology marches on. But your A1 is also pretty old so it could be a good match, pic-wise, codec-wise and chip-wise.
