Wow...very nice man. The 24p footage looks really good. What program and settings did you use to achieve those results? I also liked the chroma keying that the HC1 produces. Far better than what I achieved with traditional MiniDV footage.

Thanks a lot for the footage man.

Eric Brown November 20th, 2005 03:17 PM

Uh...I'm sorry, but, isn't this Kaku's Canon XL-H1 footage? I believe it is. If not they are identical. Same guy riding on bike, same bike, same street, etc.
Just wondering if maybe I have an erroneous link.

Alexander Karol November 20th, 2005 06:18 PM

Definetely not XL1 footage. It's definetely footage from DavidJapan's HC1. I don't know if Jung is DavidJapan, but I have that footage from this summer.

Eric Brown November 21st, 2005 05:58 PM

Actually XL-H1 not XL1. And the Sony actually shoots CF24 not 24p. It doesn't do true progressive, but I know what Jung is saying.

Jung Kyu November 21st, 2005 09:48 PM

..

all the footage in this clip is hc1
yes the first one is kaku footage hc1 with wide lens.. i don't have good tripod so i used his footage as source. i used after effects to deinterlance and gamma curve.

Eric Brown November 21st, 2005 10:50 PM

Cool, Jung. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy.

Steve Brunton December 3rd, 2005 08:08 PM

I dont get it... why does it repeat the footage with 'Fuji f-250D 35mm & 24p kodak vision 200t' titles on the same footage with degraded filters on it?

...I'm not that up to scratch with this thread, but I would love it if someone could explain :)

Alexander Karol December 4th, 2005 01:49 AM

I really don't get that neither. I thought it was somekind of software mimicing what those filters would look like. Otherwise, it definetely does not make sense.

Ian Wagner May 13th, 2006 06:36 PM

Thanks Jung. That is a great video to watch. Waht did you record the original in? HDV 1080i 60 fps? If I'm not mistaken, the hc1 doesn't shoot 24p. Please excuse my ignorance. I have only had my HC1 for a little over a month. Also, if you don't mind, what is the name of the song that you used for the background music?

Alexander Karol May 13th, 2006 07:14 PM

The HC1/A1 indeed does not record in 24p and that is the beauty of his example. it's the fact that it looks almost identical to native 24p. He achieved it via an Avid Preset and some gamma curve tweaking.

Stu Holmes May 14th, 2006 11:49 AM

I know Jung's first language isn't English, but it's pretty clear to me that he used Adobe "After Effects" as one of his software packages to achieve some of the results.
just thought i'd mention as it may be helpful.

Floris van Eck May 15th, 2006 07:27 AM

That's right Stu, he mentioned several times that he was using Adobe After Effects for color correction and 24p conversion.

I shot similar clips with various cams. So people can use it like how Jung Kyu did. Until someone said it is boring lol.

Ian Wagner May 17th, 2006 09:30 PM

Thanks Alexander and Stu. What exactly do you mean by "Avid Preset", Alexander? I know that you didn't actually create the clip, but if you could explain, that would be helpful. Thanks.
