Sennheiser ME64

What's the difference in the 2 models? One with phantom power only (costs more) and one with battery/phantom power?

Thanks........JD

There was speculation in the past that the K6P was a limited production item and thus warranted the higher price. That was back in 2002. Here we are in 2006 and it's still being offered. Hmmm, no one wanted to buy it perhaps so stores still have them in stock since then? Better electronics inside maybe? Who knows? :P

You might want to ask this question in the audio forum, or perhaps this thread should be moved over there?

I asked a sales representative in the physical BH Photo Video store in New York a couple days ago, and he gave me this answer (I didn't really understand what he meant): the phantom only will last longer than the one with both battery and phantom. But that you wouldn't even really have to worry about it dying for a few years even if you got the battery with phantom module.

I bought an ME64/K6 after reading this recommendation from Alan Barker.

I am thrilled with this mic. I woundn't have thought a cardiod would be so good as a camera mic, but this one really is. As Alan Barker says in the article, it's kind of like a second boom.
