HVR-A1's In The House!
 
Arrived today and WOW, this thing is cool. It's also very small and light (though a little lens/front heavy). I bought the larger Sony battery too and with that on it balances much better.

Just want to thank you all for the answers to my questions. More to come I'm sure :)

Steadicam Merlin anyone?

when you say the bigger battery, do you mean the 71D or the 91D?

The 91D, though now I'm thinking that makes it a little back heavy. Either way it's not noticable enough for me to worry about.

I have to add that this is without the XLR unit attached, in fact I haven't even tried that on yet.

Yes with the XLR unit on it may well become near-perfectly balanced since that unit's attachment point is positioned forward of the Centre-of-G.
