HC3 MIC input Modification
 

I've noticed several others who dislike the HC3 for the lack of audio inputs. This is how we modifed a AIS-MIC to add a MIC Input.

I can only hope that Sony comes up with an AIS accessory that would allow Stereo inputs, MIC or Line and throw in a Headphone Jack. I have no doubt they could sell them for $150.

- I think there's quite a few people who've been waiting for the detail on how to do that. Like you said, bit of a shame that you haven't got functionality for manual levels in the HC3 menu, but this does look like a good mod.

did you find additionally a way to disable the automatic audio gain of the HC-3 to get a constant level ?
(I guess it is not possible, but who knows ..)

Mike - I'm so pleased to see you're using (or your wife is using looking at those hands) a good sturdy L bracket under the HC3. It's a great aid to stability and I've long been an advocate.

My L bracket is shown at the bottom of this page, under the 'spot the VX2000' tag.

Hi,

Maybe you want to know that Wolfgang Winne in Germany is working on a modification for an external microphone for the HC3. I recommended him earler regarding his external microphone for the HC1. He is really contributing to the Sony HC1/HC3 community. You should look at his website: http://www.fxsupport.de/index.html. I think pages 1, 5 and 6 are particularly dedicated to the modification of the HC3 (hotshoe). I think he will manage.

Sony Bluetooth wireless mic?
 

Wondering if anyone has purchased the Sony Bluetooth with a HC3 purchase from Amazon. They (Amazon) is offering this as as "special" with purchase of the HC3 for $280 list for $99.00. Or maybe it does not provide what they expected and it is a clearance item?

... - Ill pay anyone $200 bucks for an XLR adapter for the HC3. Someone invent one now please.

Right now Im using the HC3 for video capture and using a DVX100 to capture audio. - then capturing in computer and syncing the audio by slate. It would be nice not to have to do this. But its just like shooting actual film i suppose.

Sony developed a solution but will not sell it? Who is this wolfgang guy and where is he getting this information>?

Wolfgang is a highly creative person that through any number of means has figured out a hack to create microphone inputs that users can build.
Sony have already discontinued the HC3, so why would they want to step backwards and offer a semipro product for a consumer-only product?
There are folks out there that like to tinker, and they often come up with very useful ideas and tools. That doesn't mean the ideas and tools are manufacturer supported.

So how much can I sell my HC3 for? How much can I sell my 2 month old Canon HV10? (which I would have not bought if I knew the Sony HC7 would have a mic input)
Currently I am having to do double system sound for my film making projects. I am using my HC3 for video and using a DVX100 to capture audio from XLR mics and slate the two together. Then capture and sync two tapes in premiere pro. Its annoying.

And also, the original post here is talking about a solution by taking apart a sony hot shoe mic and doing some wiring and sodering and such, and its really not very clear on how im supposed to do this. I have no experience sodering and i don't have an engineering degree so Ill probably end up loosing 40$ in my attempt to do this not to mention the time i will waste with the project.
