Sony Batteries for HC7
 

I'm preparing to buy a HC7 and some accessories. I'm having difficulty finding a list of Sony batteries showing approximate usage times. Can someone explain how long I can expect these batteries to last under normal usage with the LCD screen on and occasional zooming?

Here's the available batteries from the Sony website:

NP-FH100
NP-FH70
NP-FH60 (only available with the camera)
NP-FH50

Are they all physically larger than each other?

You might drop by the Sony site and download the manual for this camera - it includes approximate battery times - I think it's under service and support...

So far the quoted times seem about right, YMMV depending on how you use the camera of course.

There isn't much difference between the 60 and the 70 - they actually are identical in size... the 60 shell has an impressed "label", the 70 is screened on... otherwise the exact same shell!

Haven't had a 100 in hand, but I'm going to take the guess it's about 20-30% bigger (would stick out of the battery cavity a bit more) based on my experience with earlier Sony product.

Thanks Dave. As you said, the battery information was in the Operating Guide. It looks like the FP70 is the battery I'll choose for a backup, since it's the same physical size as the 60 with more capacity.

For quick reference here's the typical worst case recording times with LCD backlight on. This is from the listing on page 16 of the manual:

NP-FH100 195 min.
NP-FH70 85 min.
NP-FH60 (only available with the camera) 50 min.
NP-FH50 40 min.

I have a FH100 and it is about 1.5-1.7 times bigger than the FH60. But it gives a ton of time for me to shoot and setup all my shots.
