What should I get
 

I'm debating on which Camera I should get Sony HVR S270U, or a Canon XL - H1.

p.s. Just so you know, I can only afford a Sony HVR HD1000 right now, but this is for future preferences.

The XL H1 has been discontinued. It is replaced by two succeeding models: the XL H1S (with SDI) and the XL H1A (without SDI). If you can afford only the Sony HVR-HD1000, there's nothing wrong with that -- buy what you can afford. However it's pointless to attempt to answer your question regarding a future purchase, because there's every likelihood that neither the S270 or the XL H1S / H1A will be available (as new) later on down the road.

Besides, I don't think "what camera should I buy" is a question you should be asking on an internet message board. Only you can answer such a question. Which one feels best in your hands? Which one appeals to you most? That's the right camera. There is no wrong answer, really. But you have to find this sort of thing out for yourself by getting these things in your hands and trying them out on your own. A message board post shouldn't be the decision maker for such a large purchase. Hope this helps,
