If you get a Beach Tek adapter you can use and xlr mike. I have the Azden and don't recommend it.

I'm not sure that's true. From the look of it, the Receiver comes with both XLR and 1/8" mini cables. The mini should plug right into the HD1000 with no problem.

I use the Azden 200UPR and on a recent shoot using the mini connector, the audio was blown way out. I had to drop the mic volume to the absolute bottom and still ended up hot a few times. The adjustable volume on the reciever was turned way down too and the transmitter was adjusted to the midline (couldn't get access to it since it was already in the groom's pocket.) What issues are you having with your Azden? And has anyone else had issues with their wireless and this cam?
