IDX files
What information is held in the .IDX files, and is it needed for anything other than the MRC1K unit? Or can I just delete them when I've copied all the files off the card?

Annie, I have had the same dilema. I know Premier Pro doesn't recognize them. But everything works fine without them. Sooooo, I have just been deleting them.

Thinking about it, I reckon these files are for when you've got a long period of recording and are left with several 4GB files that need stitching back together. So for short clips we can safely delete them.

I did a half hour recording the other night, so produced two M2T files but only one IDX file. So now I'm convinced it probably contains the information on start and stop time, and therefore tells the Sony software whether or not it has to stitch the files together.

I've just done my first shoot with this unit on my Z5, and just copied the files over from the card into a folder in my drive. One file would have continually been recording for about 50 mins.
So should I have used the utility? And I take it I can just delete the idx files? |
