25PsF vs native 25p, and line twitter

As I wrote on the EX1 forum:

http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=113402

- I finally got the EX1 and am now testing, and comparing to my old good V1E...

One thing I've already found out: even though the EX1 records native progressive (in 24p, 25p, or 30p) as opposed to the 25PsF of the V1E that was discussed before, the problem of line twittering is still there ! Now, for those of you who were following my discussion with Steve Mullen on this 25PsF phenomenon on the V1E almost a year ago:

http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=86781
http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=81422

- this is a very important conclusion, as it confirms it has NOT been the PAL V1 flaw. It is simply a display problem: if the display device is not capable of telling progressive from interlaced, it will bob it - and the twitter will spoil the image.

So far I Have only simulated this by playing the HQ 25p (native) footage with Nero Showtime player st to fixed deinterlacing (bobbing). I have to burn a BD and play it from a BD player, connected to a high-end HDTV via HDMI; I hope there will be no line twitter!

Please let us know!

PS: a friend sent me some EX1 1080p24 video he thought looked terrible. Pans have a terrible strobing. It looked like the strobing I saw on some of your 25p and some of my 24p V1 video. It looks horrible. Nothing at all like film. How have you dealt with this since you shoot 25p. (I'll never shoot 24p again!) And, how do you find the EX1. How do you like 720p60?

I will let you know soon, Steve - have a couple of BD's ready, with both 25p and 24p contents on them. I do not agree with you total denial of shooting progressive; as long as one remembers abot some rules the stutter is not that bad (and some of it is inherent in the so called "fil look", anyway).

Of course, for fast action I will be using the 720/50p mode - it's so smooth that the resolution loss can be worth it in some situations!
