Cmos chips

I tuned my V1 on to shoot something tonight and the lcd screen was very dim, and there were large vertical green and red smears, turned it off and on again, it went away, came back another couple of times. I was shooting in a very large warehouse and the light was lousy, but never saw those vertical smears before, could the cmos chip, or chips be failing. anyone experience anything like this.

Hugh,
Did you record any of it? It might be in the LCD display. Next time it happens see if it's in the viewfinder as well.

as a matter of fact I did record, and its in the playback, camera went off express to Mack today, luckily I purchased a 4 yr ext warrantee on this cam. I turned camera on this morning and the lines were more defined. vertical lines red, green and blue, and its very dim auto gain is on max when pointed out doors, since there are three chips, each one picking up one of the colors, and now light gathering is so low, it has to be one or more of the cmos chips. I left tape in camera for Mack to see if they want.

The V1 cmos chip is 1/4" low light may have some noise when gain up MAX. I have this cam for less than 11 months sell off look back forward 3CCD Z1P with 1/3" chip. Solved some of the lowlight problem and gain event set to 12db is look good to my production edit both SD-HD recording.

Its now confirmed I original diagnosis was correct, there were defective cmos chip blocks, mine was one of the, it just didn't manifest itself for awhile, man, I am sure glad I have a 4 yr extended warranty. yhey replaced the circuit board and are replacing the cmos chip block.
