Whats your workflow

Ive read every single thread regarding 24p, 25p , 1080i how to get 25p and so on and son and on
I thought we should start a thread and post our workflows in a simple organised manor so everyone else can see and try around with some various settings. I would also love to see other peoples as mine continually change now i have read way too much

Final Cut 2

sequence preset =HDV 1080i 50

capture= HDV

Devise control =Sony Hdv 1080 i firewire

I would love to hear some workflows using pro res as from what i have heard is much better quality

and also what the hell is 25pa or 24pa cause i couldn find it anywhere

its all too confusing

Hook camera via Firewire
Download HDV clips using "HDVSplit" program to .m2t files
Run Sony Vegas 8 and import clips
Edit video
Render video from Vegas using CineForm HD codec
Encode video for the web (Flash, H264, etc...)
Burn a backup DVD+R disk for archive storage

Pretty simple. I can't use the preview window as HD, just SD resolutions. My PC isn't fast enough. But editing and only seeing a SD preview is fine for me.

m15 > dedicated hd (using vegas hdv capture)

edit m2t on t/l (no intermed)

from edited t/l render to

m2t for tape and / or hd bk/up (depending on client)

mp4 (and whatever format client wants)

dvd pal widescreen (vegas dvda template)

never a qualm or hic-up - but then again, i convert all additional material to vegas friendly formats...

leslie

btw, as above for both 50i & 25p
