All about the accessories!

Ok,

Lets see what everybody has in terms of accessories for their cameras.

I will start.

BW circular polarizer
Petrol bag
Manfrotto 503hdv/351mvb2k
Waiting on getting an ipad teleprompter from prompter people

PagLight C6 on-camera hot-shoe mounted light with accompanying battery pack. Super handy and don't regret having bought it.

There's a few other things including my Century Optics matte box worth about $2k which I picked up ex-demo for about $350. Must get around to purchasing some filters for it one day.

Living in Ireland, when I got my V1, the first purchase was a Kata CRC-14 rain cover!

Plus B+W UV filter for protection and ND filters for bright sunny days.

opteka fisheye and a porta brace bag. I plan to buy a tripod soon

If it helps, I'm still using my $300ish Manfrotto photography tripod from many years ago. One day I'll stump up the cash for a "proper" video tripod.

How would you guys rate the stock mic that comes with the camera. I use it for some run and gun stuff and it seems a bit hot but other than that it works pretty well in my opinion.

Andrew Smith July 19th, 2010 09:30 AM

I've used it to record people across a table 1 to 2 metres away and only speaking at their regular conversational volume. Really struggled for decent levels.

It's kinda okay, but otherwise disappointing. I've since gone on to purchase a Rode NTG3 mic as well as a Sony wireless lapel mic system.

If I am shooting with a second camera, I'll still put the stock mic on as visually matching the waveform in the editing software is an easy way of synching a number of isolated camera recordings.

What is a spider mount?

Seth Bloombaum August 6th, 2010 08:58 PM

I think D.J. is talking about the spider brace shoulder mount - and I agree, best shoulder rig for the money!

Sony video light is the one thing I can't live without on this camera when shooting wedding receptions or other events. Other than that just all the standard stuff - a few Rode Mics, Sony wireless kit, and a Libec TH-650 tripod.

I stopped using WA/tele convertors when I switched HD because the HD quality lenses are just so damn expensive.
