from the V1 site

"Leading manufacturers are scheduled to release nonlinear editing software compatible with this 24p scan mode. These nonlinear software can detect the 2-3 sequence and remove the 2-3 properly. This way, the editor can create a 24p project, edit precisely at 24fps (23.98 progressive frames per second) throughout the process, and output the final master as"

So if I read that right something like FCP can't edit the 24p scan mode?

Will the new FCP coming out later this year I think be able to edit the scan mode?

What is 24p scan mode?

This topic has been covered extensively in our FCP forum and our JVC HY-HD series forum (because it also records 24p). If you don't want to browse all that info, the gist of it is that FCP will release an HDV 24P update pretty soon.

I'll check that out thanks

At IBC Apple said "within 30 days". So we're down to around two weeks now maybe?

I knew they were coming out with a new 5.whatever it is. Just didn't know if the 24p scanned was on it. Thanks

They showed 720/24p HDV and also 1080/24p HDV. At the time people were curious -- as in, why didn't it say "1080/24F HDV"? But maybe it was referring to this Sony?

Actually now that I think about it, I presume it'll work for both Canon and Sony, but there are differences. Canon stores their footage on tape as 24 distinct frames, Sony uses a 3:2 pulldown...

What about Premiere Pro? It frustrates me that I'm excited about this camera but may not be even able to use it with my Premiere system.

How and when will we know?

Adobe *should* be ready to go somewhat soon; they've been given what they need to test the footage already. If nothing else, Aspect HD already works for this.
