STU, where do you see the FX7 for $2800, as there isn't even an "email me a better price" link like for the V1U?

Stu Holmes November 6th, 2006 08:42 AM

Here's the link Michael :

Seems like a great deal.

Paulo Teixeira November 6th, 2006 06:07 PM

The MSRP for the GL2 was 3000 dollars and its street price ends up being around the same as the FX7’s street price. That alone says that you’re getting a very good deal for the FX7.

Steve Nunez November 6th, 2006 06:38 PM

I saw the FX7 for $3599 (B&H) just a day or so ago- seems like it just went down some!

Steve Roark November 7th, 2006 03:37 PM

That's the special price for Photo Plus Expo...

What's interesting is that most of the PPE discounts seem to be $50 to $100 off regular prices, but the FX7 is about $700 cheaper for Photo Plus attendees...that seems almost too good not to be a mistake.

I could have probably found a round-trip ticket from Germany for $600 and still saved $100 if I'd gone. Of course, I'd be $200 in the hole if the airport had a Krispy Kreme.

Steve Nunez November 8th, 2006 06:46 PM

It's a good thing I didn't see it at B&H at that price- I might have bought it instead of the A1.

Anyone have one of these guys yet?

Michael Y Wong November 8th, 2006 09:53 PM

I checked the sonyhdv forusm early today and the V1 @ bhphoto was 3999$,

I just checked however and its back to 4199$ (after requesting a better price via email).

For 3999$ that makes it extremly competitive form a price perspective compared to the Canon XH-A1!

Chris Medico November 8th, 2006 11:20 PM

I jumped and locked one in for that price. I've got some stuff to shoot and I'm going to put it off till this thing arrives next month. :)

I think I'm buying one also at that price. It will make for a very happy Christmas. :)

Spare a thought for us in the UK.

Currently the V1e is priced at £2510 (no tax) so your price of $4199 should be £2234 before tax for us. That's nearly $520 more even before we've added the dreaded (VAT) on!

I've seen many other V1e dealers charging much more!

Living in the UK can be decidedly expensive...

?

$2510 - $2234 = $276

Don't feel too bad, you will need to pay state sales tax in most US locations, plus city sales tax in some others. But to make a fair comparison I think we would need to look at other cost of living items, like the national health insurance which I believe you enjoy in the UK :-)

Tony Tremble November 10th, 2006 09:22 AM

Boyd

We still use good ol' £s here in the UK.

Difference is £276 x 1.88 current exchange rate = $520ish (dollars)

We pay 17.5% VAT on top. :(

So a V1e would cost you blokes £2950 (inc VAT) x 1.88 = $5546 kerching!!!!

That's not too too bad.

In canada the V1 will cost 5600$ USD + 14% taxes = $6384 cdn ~=

$5700 USD!!!!! I hate the prices here!

Sony accessories even @ employee prices in Canada are still more expensive then B & H! :(
