JUST CAPTURED V1U 24P on my MAC!!!

iMovie HD captured it perfectly! Will post some clips.

EDIT:

Just dropped it into a 24p timeline in FCP but it wont let me render.

Great! Keep us updated! Some of us are waiting to see how the workflow is with Final Cut!

Okay..got it !

Just capture with iMovie HD and then open up the project in FCP. iMovie automatically converts to AIC.

Greg Quinn December 20th, 2006 12:08 AM

I don't get it - do you mean that iMovie pulls 24P from the 60i stream automatically...?

Daniel Boswell December 20th, 2006 01:00 AM

I don't get it either..i just know it works!

iMovie was the savior work around until we got basic HDV support in FCP..remember?

Chris Rentzel December 20th, 2006 10:48 AM

I don't see anywhere in iMovie where it mentions or uses 24p at all. I took my JVC HD110 and captured 24p footage, and it captured fine... but... it captured it at 30fps, so when I imported the project into FCP, the clips were wrong. I'm not technically inclined, but at least on my camera, iMovie does not capture 24p.

I can't get it to capture as 24p either.
Could it be you've shot 24p, and iMovie is capturing? In a standard workflow, this means you're actually capturing the 24p with pulldown.

Yep..thats what it is doing. I didn't really look into it until this morning and indeed its capturing and converting to the AIC ,..at 30 fps.

That's not a half bad thing though. I like the look of it. To me, its an aesthetic thing since I am not going to be doing any film outs anytime soon.

FCP should update soon too.
