V1 24p and Final Cut Pro 2
 

Okay, so I there are work-arounds for editing V1 24p footage with Final Cut Pro, but what about the new version 2 that just came out? Does it have full support for the V1 yet?

If not, then what is the best method to edit the footage using FCP2 on a 24p timeline, without using an external capture program/plugin?

I don't think FCP 2 is due out until May sometime. I wasn't at NAB, so maybe someone who was can fill us in as to what the reps "said" it would do with V1 24P footage.

Minor nitpick... Final Cut Pro 2 is a very old version, I think you mean Final Cut Pro 6 which is the soon to be released version. It's part of Final Cut Studio 2.

Yes, I too am hoping to get clarified if Final Cut Pro 6 can do the 24p 1080p used by the Sony HVR-V1 (and the Canon HV20), i.e. that it can be extracted from the 1080i easily and automatically without all the kerfuffle of workarounds. If it does, they have sold one to me for sure!
